Digging the dirt, unearthing the truth

As read by Ealing Council’s Press Office

Meeting Berkeley Group

Last Wednesday, I and two other #Southall residents met with @berkeleygroupuk's @damian_leydon, @rickwatler and @SangheraJags, and their PR company representative and note taker @chattycoley of @LocalDialogue, at their #SouthallWaterside HQ.

I have to say, I was mightily impressed by their palatial portacabin HQ. The reception area was bigger than my living room, and despite the lack of natural light and windows, the air conditioning was a great relief from the high 20s temperatures outside!

I'll add more later when I have time.

Suffice to say for now, we were lied to, and treated disrespectfully, in a cynical attempt to control the agenda of the meeting, and spin their marketing story.

Forgot to add, Jonathan Houghton, an Environmental Engineer at @atkinsglobal was also present at the meeting.

David Brent-like, @damian_leydon likes to refer to him as his 'scientist', as if that magically makes everything all right.

We were expecting a tour of the site, much like: , and an opportunity to put our complaints and concerns directly to @damian_leydon in person.

What we got was @berkeleygroupuk's agenda.

I asked that we just go straight to the tour, as we had no interest in listening to their propaganda. I refused to shake @damian_leydon's hand, saying I would do so when he had stopped polluting the air my family and neighbours breathe, and stopped creating a public nuisance.

.@damian_leydon complained that he thought I was being aggressive, and he threatened to have me escorted off-site by his heavies.

I pointed out that we are the innocent victims of his continuing aggression, despite repeated pleas for him to stop.

He insisted on continuing with his pre-set agenda and meeting in their air-condition board room, with lots of fancy hospitality on offer.

To cut a long story short:

- laptop didn't work
- powerpoint failed
- film abandoned (no future)
- no plan B
- biscuits uneaten

.@berkeleygroupuk's whole defence of their continuing pollution and odour nuisance is that they are the good guys!

Look!

We made over £600m profit last year, and out charitable foundation gave £36,000 to the local homeless project!

#Southall #SouthallWaterside

And they put some plants outside the local college.

And they spent two and a half hours talking to primary school kids at @FeatherstonePr2.

So they were really *pissed off* when the same kids and the headteacher complained to @nicolaford on TV about the smell!

So unfair!

But look on the bright side.

They are almost done.

They have completed two thirds of the odour-producing work.

They will be finished in September.

(They started in May 2017, 14 months ago. Even the kids at @FeatherstonePr2 could work out that 2/3s done means 7 to go?)

Even their own recently produced glossy Remediation Work FAQ contradicts itself.

He can't even agree with himself!

Back to school, @damian_leydon!

.@damian_leydon has changed his tune, and/or acquired a new calculator!

#SouthallWaterside is now 75% done #MakingSouthallStink and will be finished in time for Christmas!

It's a miracle!

Only in #Southall.
