Pull the Other One, Julian

Conspiracy theory?

Our Great Leader, Julian ‘Two Jobs, Two Homes’ Bell, claimed on Desi Radio this morning that, “unfortunately”, none of the air quality monitoring data provided to him by Berkeley Group, the developers of the old gasworks site, provides any evidence of levels of chemicals harmful to health.

Well, would you believe it?

Bribery and corruption

The same developers who paid their former finance director £9.5m to keep quiet about years of Tony Pidgley, founder and chair of Berkeley Group, bribing estate agents in order to buy land at favourable terms for development.

Somewhat un-reassuringly, rather than allow a judge to decide, Berkeley Group investigated these claims themselves and found them to be completely without any foundations.

Breaking the law

Pidgley alone “earned” £174m in the ten years to 2018, and has millions more in shares. His own Chief Executive Rob Perrins, has told how Pidgley ‘breaks the rules’ every day.

Bell un-reassures us that he is not an expert, but Berkeley Group tell him that the site is now decontaminated and it is now safe to grow vegetables in the non-existent gardens that don’t come with the new high-rise homes.

The wrong kind of air quality monitors

Bell tells us that the air quality monitors at Blair Peach School were not the right kind of monitors to measure the kind of toxic chemicals coming from the old gasworks site, so, of course, they were not replaced with the right kind of monitors, they were simply removed.

What could possibly go wrong?

Odours are harmful, chemicals that cause odours are safe

Bell insists that there IS a difference between odour and the chemicals in the air.

The former, even when exacerbating asthma symptoms, is not harmful to health we are told to believe.

Worth listening to the audio to hear him tie himself up in knots over this.

Ring any Bells?

Bell claims that he personally, and the Council, have always been quick to respond to any and all complaints of odour including during the night.

This is completely untrue, as I’m sure most if not all of you know.

I invited him to stay in my home last summer and he declined, as did Berkeley Group employees.

Ring my Bell

He’s never met, or even offered to meet, with me personally, despite my frequent emails and (private) Twitter messages to him.

I’m still waiting for response from him to an ‘urgent’ email I sent to him last August.

Bell claims that when your local MP (who Bell works for) or ward councillor (who works for Bell) tells you to sit down and shut up, or that they won’t help, or you don’t get a response from them at all, that you should write to him instead!

It’s all over now. Or is it?

Bell claims ongoing odour is not Berkeley but National Grid!

The work has ended, but it is ongoing!

The remediation that is, in a sense not remediation is ongoing until 2038, but the remediation that is, in a sense, remediation has finished!

Bell claims that Ealing Council’s Contaminated Land Officer (whose post was funded by Berkeley Group for three years), has always been notified whenever the odours and chemicals that are, and are not, in a sense, harmful to health have exceeded legal limits.

Bell end

Bell claims that everything is OK. And he’s sorry if it isn’t, and that’s why he’s listening, and talking bullshit on the radio, and that’s why he has organised the public meeting on 10 July, where the Environment Agency, Public Health England and possibly his bosses Berkeley Group will not be represented.

Right at the end of the audio, it sounds to me like the presenter (who was brilliant throughout) says, ‘Julian Bell-End, thanks for coming on the show…’

Bell claims that there is no conspiracy!
